Nicki has really tuned it down lately and traded in her wild colors for a more grown and sexy look. Check out her pictures from the Elle cover and spread. Not only has she upgraded her style, shes taking her fame to a whole new level by creating her own comic book! Comic book? Yes a comic book! Its actually a very lucrative idea and smart move. In addition I would like to applaud her for her success as a female rapper. Despite what you think about how she "got on" she makes it very clear that she didn't give up the cookie for fame. "When I started being around Young Money, Wayne thought I was shy, but it wasn't that I was shy, I just didn't want anybody to think I was easy. No matter what my lyrics were saying, when I got around these guys, I was a prude, because I didn't want anyone in this game to ever be able to say 'I had s*x with her' or 'when she needed a deal, she had to...' No," Nicki explained in an interview. "And 'til this day, not one single man in this industry can say that and I pride myself on that. That's the only bit of advice I would give the up-and-coming female rappers. You could be as sexy as you want, but just maintain your dignity around these guys." (MTV) I also love her new song High School ft rapper Lil Wayne she sounds much like the old nicki. Whether you like the wild Nicki or mellow Nicki its no doubt that she is #BouJee Approved

The 43 year old singer Mariah Carey, American Idol judge and five time Grammy award winner proves that age is just a number in her book. She debuted her video for the upcoming movie Oz The Great and Powerful and she is just as vibrant as when she first came out in 1990. As a veteran, many "rappers" should look up to Talib Kweli. He is a perfect example of what older rappers in the game should be doing. Let me get to my point. I'm sure many have their own opinions about rapper Cheif Keef whether you like him or not, he's not going anywhere anytime soon and for these older rappers to criticize his music instead of mentoring him, is beside me. Everyone was once young. Talib says on a recent interview
"Even if he's (Cheif Keef) gangbanging on records, I'd rather him gang bang on records than in the streets and if you gang bang on records, you're at some point going to have respect for music and you're going to grow out of that. Snoop Dogg used to gang bang on records, now he's Snoop Lion. All I'm saying is it doesn't matter what genre your music is, give credit where its due. Cheif Keef made the best of his situation. Kudos to Talib for sticking up for the youth. #BouJee Approved!

Love the Skin Your In

R&B singer Kelly Rowland admits that she was once not so proud of being a "brown-skinned" girl. It took her a while to embrace her skin and when she did, it was liberating! Alot of us felt or still feel the way she did. I personally think the media has a huuuge influence over what is shunned vs. what is glorified as beauty. Reunited and it LOOKS so Good!

Infamously known as the hit TV show Girlfriends and being on the air for 8 years the fabulous four called it quits in 2008. Despite the cancellation nearly five years ago and venturing off on their personal endeavors,  the gang reunited at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon in Febuary, 2013 and I have to give it to them they looked stunning! Although it's been a while since the show aired, your fans still love you guys! You couldn't help being entangled in all their drama and loving it!  #BouJee Approved!

RIP Chris Lighty

Violator Ent founder found dead of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.

 

 

Sources have confirmed that the young, handsome, successful founder of Violator Entertainment;Chris Lightly has passed away at the age of 44 after an alleged argument with his estranged wife. The Police were called to his home in Bronx, NY this morning only to find Chris deceased, outside of his apartment from what appears to have been a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head....a firearm was found on the scene. 

 

Chris was instrumental in launching the careers of successful hip hop acts such as Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliot, Nas, LL Cool J and many many more.

 

Our hearts and prayers go out to his children and his family.

Lupe Fiasco boycotts SPIN magazine over "Bitch Bad" video remarks.

Per XXL news:
"Lupe Fiasco released the video for “Bitch Bad” yesterday, one of the early singles from his upcoming album, Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1, due out September 25. In the song, the Chicago rapper discusses the word “bitch” and the various interpretations of the loaded word, understood particularly through the lens of those raised on hip-hop. The video, directed by Gil Green, attempts to make a parody of a stereotypical rap video, and includes the use of blackface.
When Spin writer Brandon Soderberg was critical of the new visuals in a post, Lupe caught wind and took to Twitter to attempt to defend his video and attack the publication. He began using the hashtag #BoycottSpinMagazine and later referenced Buzz Media, which now owns Spin.

“The video for ‘Bitch Bad’ adds another layer of reckless social commentary when it dramatizes footage from a fictional hip-hop video behind scenes of the kids encountering offensive hip-hop. We see a guy in a wifebeater mean mugging as a typical “video hoe” writhes on him and his car, and signs for “Sugar Water” engulf the street scene, undoubtedly a reference to 50′s involvement with Vitamin Water. Towards the end of the video, we witness the 50 stand-in and “video hoe” applying blackface, perpetuating the sounds-good-but-doesn’t-really-parse argument that male gangsta rappers and female models/video girls are the modern day equivalent of blackface performers.” "

 -I watched the video, I absolutely love the video, I think it's sending the perfect message to the viewers and fans and lastly I didn't get the whole "50cent" reference at all....so I'm not really sure where that came from. Sounds like SPIN magazine is pulling at straws.

Is it GAME OVER for the show "The Game"???

Derwin and Melanie will NOT be returning for the next season of the GAME!!

Melanie confirmed on her twitter account recently that she will NOT be returning for the next season of the popular BET show "The Game"....she recently tweeted "“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way. I am looking forward to my upcoming projects…the release of my book #OhBaby [today!], season 2 of @TiaTameraShow on @mystyle premiering in June, and my @ABCFamily movie coming out in December…more to come!” love u so much"

Pooch Hall "Derwin" also confirmed via his twitter that he will NOT be returning as well. 
It will be interesting (or uninteresting) to see just how well the show will do without the two leading characters.Personally it was game over for me last season...the show for some reason seemed to lose its flair but I wish them both luck in their future endeavors. 

 

RIP DONNA SUMMER

 

 First Whitney now Donna!

The beautiful Donna Summer, a 5 time Grammy winner, passed away this morning at the vibrant age of 63 following a battle with cancer. Donna was the queen of disco that perfected timeless hits that remind me so much of my childhood dancing with my mother. My all time Donna favorites were "Last Dance" and "She works hard for the money". 

Gone too soon, you will be missed but your hits will live on. 


Rest in peace Donna.

Kanye supports Kim at Jewelry launch.

"KimYe"... Kim and Kanye were spotted together in Canada for the launch of  Kim's new Jewelry line. The launch took place at Belle Noel in Toronto. They looked adorable together as usual.  I love to see a guy supporting his woman. Much Love to them both!!!!

Nia Long is still gorgeous and happy after giving birth to her new baby.

The new addition is actually now 6 months old....his name is Kez Sunday Udoka. Nia is reportedly the happiest she's ever been. She's taking time off from the big screen to enjoy motherhood all over again. The child's father is NBA star Ime Udoke...the two supposedly eloped on Valentines day but that has yet to be confirmed. Congrats to the couple we wish them the best!

This is Kim exiting Kanye's Mercedes SLR McLaren to Barry's Boot Camp in Sherman Oaks Cali. Kim's family just signed a $40 million deal with E! so I'm pretty sure she can probably afford to buy her own...all girl's know that it's way more fun to drive your boyfriend's car;)...especially if it looks like THIS!
